Please read the articles and reviews written about the Bahamas Learning Channel.

I am interested in obtaining a copy of the Junkanoo Multiplication tables, which is aired on ZNS T.V, 13 every Saturday. As a parent of a 5th Grade student of Our Lady's Catholic School, I am in search of a product that my child would be interested in. A teacher recommended that I purchase multiplication software by Twin Sisters Production, which I recently did, and I am not impressed. I almost lost hope in my son becoming interested in learning his multiplication tables, until I first viewed your program on ZNS T.V 13. As you are aware, the tables are a major part of any math foundation.
Your product has not only captured my attention, but also that of my ten year old son, as well. Hats off to who ever is the brain child of this product. I like how they incorporated our culture into learning. This product needs much more promotion than what is being given.
Please let me know how I might obtain a copy of this product for my son. I believe that it is the most valuable investment any parent can make. Any information you have about this product would be greatly appreciated.

Every Saturday morning I am delighted to sit in front of the television with my four year old grandson and watch “Tell Me A Stor.” Ms. Sands is an excellent story-teller and both my grandson and I are eager to learn the folktales of Ber Bouki and Ber Rabbi that are so vibrantly told by her. I fervently feel the use of this program in my library class will definityly benefit my students and promote reading among them. I applaud the creative minds that out “Tell Me A Story” program together. It is not only a fundamental reading tool that should be used in all libraries but it also helps one to develop an appreciation of Bahamian folktales.

…. I have come across some programs that are being aired on ZNS channel 11 courtesy of The Bahamas Learning Channel. I must say that I have been very impressed with the productions and I think if more teachers are made aware of them, they could be a valuable teaching and learning tool for our children. I think the birth of the BLC is an excellent idea which ought to be continued and expanded. Many of our curriculum requires Bahamian content which are not normally obtained from our current textbooks since those books are not written by local practitioners, BLC could be an avenue to provide us teachers with some of the resources information that we need for our lessons….

Friends of the Environment would like to acknowledge Gary the Explorer (a Loggerhead Productions program) for its contributions to education in The Bahamas. Gary the Explorer provides an opportunity for young Bahamians to learn about their environment when they are not able to visit it themselves. FRIENDS supports outdoor learning, and shows such as this are very complimentary to our programs. It is particularly beneficial that the shows have been created with the Bahamian school curriculum in mind.
By broadcasting these programs nationally on channels such as The Bahamas Learning Channel, you can be assured that another step has been taken to ensure that the next generation of young Bahamians grows up informed and sympathetic to national issues. Environmental education does more than teach students about the environment, it teaches them about the importance of their natural heritage and instills a sense of national pride that was not there before.
FRIENDS has found students to be very receptive Gary the Explorer, the show is as entertaining to the children as it is educational. FRIENDS believes that television shows such as this one are extremely important to environmental education in The Bahamas and commend The Bahamas Learning Channel for supporting the initiative.

Thanks for all the hard work you do at the Learning Channel. As Principal of the Hope Town Primary School in Abaco , my students and I know Gary the Explorer very well ! His environmental educational tapes and TV programs add immense appeal and substance to our strong environmental education programs. Gary Richardson is a natural in the programs! He has always loved nature and the Bahamian environment and when he was cast for these tapes we all felt that definitely the right person had been found.
The Gary the Explorer tapes are produced in such a manner that the excitement Gary projects is absorbed by the students who are watching. I was contacted last month by a teacher on Harbour Island who had seen the programs on your channel and wanted to know where she could see more ! I heartily believe that this kid-friendly, good for the general public's information type program has a constant spot on the TV and I am encouraging my Minister of Education and other Officials with the power to ensure that this happens to act positively to keep The Bahamas Learning Channel and Gary the Explorer on the airwaves !
